AKRON, Ohio - The Xavier men's soccer team lost its first match of a grueling spring schedule on Saturday as it fell to Akron, 2-0, on the road.
It was the first loss of the exhibition season for the Musketeers who have wins over Indiana and Louisville under their belt this spring.
Xavier returns home now to close out its spring with a Thursday match against the AJAX U-18 team from Canada and Saturday's marque match against Notre Dame.
The Musketeers match against the Fighting Irish will be the Second Annual Down Syndrome Awareness Classic. Last year's match against Akron set a single-game attendance record.
Saturday's match begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Xavier University Soccer Complex and admission is $5 and goes towards Devin's Team which benefits the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati.
