CINCINNATI - The Xavier men's soccer team came back from a one-goal deficit to down powerhouse Ohio State 2-1 in exhibition play Sunday night at Care Flight Field in front of 800 fans. XU is now 2-0 in exhibition games this spring.

Two minutes after Ohio State netted the game's first goal off a corner kick in the 35th minute, Xavier answered with sophomore Jake Vollmer starting the attack by playing a ball to freshman James Getzen down the right side. Getzen quickly played it down the line to freshman El-Hadji Dieng who sent it on the ground behind the OSU defense where freshman Brandon Bucher rocketed a one-timer into the net.

Going into halftime tied 1-1, coach Dave Schureck made the switch from junior keeper Adam Sokolowski to freshman Ryan Engelmann.  Engelmann would hold OSU scoreless in the second stanza.

In the 78th minute, freshman Andy Dimbi struck a low, hard freekick from 35 yards out that managed to avoid a crowd of defenders in front of the net, giving Xavier the go-ahead goal leading to the final 2-1 score.

Ohio State was the National Runner-up in the College Cup last season, losing to Wake Forest in the finals.

Engelmann's shutout was his second of the spring.
