DAYTON, Ohio - Junior goalkeeper Adam Sokolowski made seven big saves as the Xavier University men's soccer team played Dayton to a scoreless draw on Saturday evening in Dayton, Ohio.  With the tie, XU moves to 6-10-1 on the year and 2-4-1 in Atlantic 10 action.  UD moves to 9-4-3 overall, 3-3-1 in the A-10. 

 

Four of Sokolowski's seven saves came in the overtime sessions and the net-minder turned away a couple shots late in the second overtime after the Flyers had advanced the ball deep into XU's defensive third.  

 

Dayton held a 13-to-8 shots advantage on the evening and had a 7-to-2 edge in shots on goal.  


 

 

 

The shutout was Sokolowski's fourth of the year and was the fifth overall shutout the XU defense, mainly patrolled by Jake Vollmer, Tommy Clines, Doug Dalton and Aaron Denney, has put together this season.    

 

Xavier will return to action on Friday, November 9 when the team welcomes Duquesne to the XU Soccer Complex.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
