PHILADELPHIA - The Xavier University men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Temple on Sunday afternoon at the Ambler Soccer Complex in Philadelphia. With the loss, Xavier falls to 2-12-3 on the year and 1-5-2 in Atlantic 10 play. Temple, which upset No. 22 Dayton on Friday, improves to 9-4-3, 5-1-1.

Temple scored a pair of goals in the first 7:14, the first coming just 53-seconds into the game. Tyler Witmer's game-winner came from point-blank range after he took a feed from JT Noone.

Ryan Engelmann and Adam Sokolowski split time in net for XU. Engelmann made four saves but allowed all four goals. Sokolowski stopped a pair of shots in 38:31 of action.

XU's lone goal came when Tommy Clines took a feed from Kennedy Nakwa and found the back of the net at 57:49.

Temple out-shot Xavier by a 19-to-6 count.

The Musketeers will be back in action on Saturday, November 8 when the team takes on Dayton at the XU Soccer Complex. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and senior day festivities will precede the match.
