Men's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Draw With Butler in Exhibition Action
Aug. 25, 2007
INDIANAPOLIS - Senior forward Jon Enders netted a goal to put the Musketeers up early but the Xavier University men's soccer team had to settle for a 1-1 tie in exhibition action with Butler on Saturday afternoon in Indianapolis.
Enders' goal came at the 25:49 mark when he hit a header off a cross from Andy Dimbi into the back of the net from 10-yards out.
Butler's equalizer came less than five minutes later. Frank Patano took a feed from David Giapratana and drilled it by the diving Adam Sokolowski.
Neither side was able to put in the game-winner as each team was only able to muster three shots on goal. Sokolowski made one save in 55:53 of action while freshman Ryan Engelmann stopped the only shot he was challenged with in 34:07 as the XU goalkeeper.
The Musketeers kick-off their 2007 season on Friday, August 31 when they square-off against UC Davis at 7:30 p.m. in the second match of the Ramada Xavier Challenge. The XU vs. UC Davis match will be preceded by a contest featuring UNLV and Pittsburgh at 5 p.m. All action takes place at the XU Soccer Complex.
