Xavier found out it will be returning to the NCAA Tournament to face West Virginia for the second year.

Alex Morawiecki begins his second season as an assistant coach for the defending Atlantic 10 Champions. In his first year, Morawiecki helped the Musketeers reach their first Atlantic 10 title and trip to the NCAA Tournament.

"I consider Alex to be the social glue of the team. He's a great teacher of the game and very good on the field with the guys, particularly individually with the younger players," head coach Andy Fleming said. "I think his demeanor is an important piece of the puzzle because the rest of the staff is very driven and I think he is a little more laid back. He's a great bridge between the players and the coaching staff and is really a jack of all trades."

Morawiecki joined the men's soccer staff in March 2010 and helped the program not only win the A-10 title and play in the NCAA Tournament, but also recorded the nation's highest winning improvement and finish second in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional ranking, the highest in school history.

His recruiting efforts helped Xavier land a Top 40 ranked recruiting class by College Soccer News in 2010. In addition, Morawiecki assists in the planning and execution of team training sessions, opponent scouting, video analysis of matches, the daily training of goalkeepers, organizing team travel, and helping with the program's budget. He also oversees the team equipment, and delegates the responsibilities of the student managers.

Morawiecki joined the Xavier staff after spending one year as an assistant coach at Northern Illinois where he assisted in all facets program, including planning and executing on-field training, scouting, game-day marketing and management and day-to-day administrative duties.

Morawiecki helped the Huskies post a 10-8-1 record and a national ranking during the 2009 season. The Huskies advanced to the MAC semifinal and fell in double-overtime, 1-0, to eventual national runner up Akron in that contest.

Prior to his time at Northern Illinois, Morawiecki served for three seasons as an assistant coach at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn. While at Concordia, Morawiecki helped organize and implement training sessions and assisted with recruiting, day to day operations, marketing and alumni relations.

Since April, Morawiecki has been working with the Hammer F.C. of the Ohio Youth Soccer Association as the men's technical advisor and U18 boys head coach. Morawiecki has also worked with the U.S. Soccer Olympic Development Program since April of 2008 where he has evaluated and assisted in selecting the state pool of players for various age groups.
