First Season

Ian McMichael begins his first year as an assistant coach at Xavier University. McMichael comes to XU after spending the last four years at the University of Tennessee.

"Ian brings two things to the table that will make him an outstanding addition to the staff: tremendous work ethic and a passion for the game," said head coach Dave Schureck. "He will be responsible for day to day operations in the office, as well as scouting and video analysis. I am looking forward to working with and learning from Ian."

While at UT, McMichael was the President of the men's club soccer team from 2005-06 and also served as a practice player on the UT women's soccer team.

More recently, McMichael was the head coach of the U10 Boys Premier (Classic Hammers FC) during the 2007 spring season and was the U9 head coach during the 2006 spring season.

A native of Roanoke, Va., McMichael was a member of the Virginia ODP State Team in 2001 and was honored as a First Team All-District and All-Timesland selection while competing in High School.

McMichael graduated from UT in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and electronic media.
