NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Freshman Korey Ward was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office, Thursday, Nov. 10. This is the first such honor of Ward's career and it comes on the heels of XU wrapping up the fall season.

The West Chester, Ohio native finished tied for 24th at the Amelia Island Intercollegiate after carding a 5-over-par 221 (73-72-76). Ward's finish was his second top-25 appearance of the fall season. In addition, his 221 was his best finish on a par-72 course this season.

Ward participated in all six of XU's fall events with a 74.44 scoring average. His low of the season came at the Marshall Invitational where he carded an even-par 71.

Ward and the Musketeers take a break from competition and will return to action in March when they head down to Myrtle Beach, S.C. to take part in the Bash at the Beach. Stay tuned to GoXavier.com for more information on Xavier golf.
