Sept. 19, 2011
BOISE, Idaho - Former men's golf standout Jason Kokrak won the 2011 Albertson's Boise Open presented by Kraft this past weekend. Kokrak was the last player to get into the field and managed to move from 70th to 13th in the money rankings.
The Charlotte, N.C., native started the final round tied for the lead and carded a bogey-free, 4-under-par 67 to become the Nationwide Tour's 10th first-time winner and fourth rookie winner in 2011.
Kokrak is first on the Nationwide Tour in driving distance at 320.3 and par breakers with 26.90%. Additionally, he is second in birdie average with 4.74, third in total driving, fifth in all-around ranking and sixth in scoring average with 68.95.
The top 25 leading money winners on the tour will earn PGA Tour cards for the 2012 season, a goal that is attainable for Kokrak. "My goal at the beginning of the year was just to make the Tour Championship," he said. "It's always been a dream of mine to play on Tour since I was a kid."
