HUNTINGTON, W.Va. --- Xavier University sophomore Korey Ward won his first collegiate individual title with a one-stroke victory in Xavier's first event of the fall season, the Marshall Invitational. Ward earned medalist honors with a three-round total of 9-under-par 204 (69-66-69) at the Guyan Golf and Country Club in Huntington, W.Va. Xavier finished in a tie for seventh place as a team with a three-round total of 867 (289-288-290).
"It's great to get a victory in the first event," said Ward. "Hopefully that sets the tone for a very successful fall. It feels good because it was a very good field. We play a tough schedule week in and week out."
