Men's Golf Opens Season At Marshall Invitational

CINCINNATI - In his twenty-fifth year as head coach, Doug Steiner will lead the Xavier Musketeers men’s golf team to the Marshall Invitational at Guyan Golf & Country Club in Huntington, W.V., Sept. 9-10.
The 15-team field includes Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, High Point, Loyola (Maryland), Marshall, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Richmond, Western Kentucky, William & Mary, Wright State and Xavier.
The Marshall Invitational will be played at Guyan Golf & Country Club. Layout is a 6523-yard, par-71 configuration. The tournament consists of three rounds. Current junior Korey Ward won the 2012 Marshall Invitational with a three-round total of 9-under-par (69-66-69). Last year in Huntington, Xavier finished in a tie for seventh place as a team with a three-round total of 867 (289-288-290).
Xavier will sport a five-person lineup of Korey Ward (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West), Yuki Kato (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran), Matt Wetterich (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle HS), Tanapol Vattanapisit (Rayong, Thailand/The Pendleton School) and Patrick Horsting (Kent, United Kingdom/Loretto Golf Academy). Freshman Joo-Young Lee (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby) will compete as an individual.
