Kokrak's Successful Summer Continues at the U.S. Amateur

SAN FRANCISCO -- Jason Kokrak has advanced to the Round of 16 of the 2007 U.S. Amateur after defeating Mark Harrell, 2 and 1, in second-round action at storied Olympic Club in San Francisco. Kokrak, who earned the top seed in match play after firing rounds of 69 and 68 in the stroke play portion, is slated to square-off against Derek Fathauer for a berth in the Quarterfinal today. The match will be televised live on the Golf Channel from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. EDT. Fans can also follow the action through live scoring on http://www.usamateur.org/.

Kokrak was one of 11 amateurs to qualify for the U.S. Open in June and finished third among amateur players at the Open. He was also honored as an Honorable Mention All-American by PING earlier in the year and qualified for the NCAA Regional as an individual. Kokrak missed advancing to the NCAA Final by one shot.

Kokrak finished his collegiate playing career as XU's all-time leader with a 71.67 scoring average and fired a team-best 18 sub par rounds during the 2006-07 season.
