Xavier Sophomore Golfer Korey Ward Qualifies For 2012 U.S. Amateur Championship

CINCINNATI --- Xavier University sophomore Korey Ward (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) was the medalist at the U.S. Amateur Championship Qualifier at The Camargo Club on Tuesday. Ward finished with a two-round total of 133, including a final round of 62 that tied The Camargo Club course record.

“I am really proud of Korey,” said Xavier head golf coach Doug Steiner.  “He played exceptionally well and earned his spot in the championship. That final round was something special.”

Ward will compete in the 2012 U.S. Amateur Championship, which will be held August 13-19 at Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado.
