July 13, 2011
CINCINNATI - Former Xavier men's golfer Jason Kokrak has returned to Cincinnati to take part in the 2011 Chiquita Classic. The Nationwide Tour event will take place July 14-17 at Cincinnati's TPC River's Bend course. Kokrak is set to tee off at 8:40 a.m. Thursday.
This will be the fourth Nationwide Tour event that Kokrak has played in this season. His best finish was at the Rex Hospital Open on June 12 when he carded a five-under to tie for 34th place. Kokrak also played in the South Georgia Classic on May 1 and the Mexico Open June 26.
Former Cincinnati Bengals' great and longtime Cincinnati community supporter Anthony Munoz returns in his capacity as Honorary Chairman of the Chiquita Classic. Munoz played a prominent role in promoting and supporting last year's inaugural event in his adopted hometown. The Southern California native who played collegiately at USC is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Live action from the tournament will be shown each day from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the Golf Channel. The Chiquita Classic initiates a string of 15 tournaments over the next 16 weeks that culminates at the season-ending Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island in Charleston, S.C. Oct. 27-30.
