May 31, 2007

CINCINNATI - Xavier University senior Jason Kokrak has been named to the PING All-Midwest Region Team as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Wednesday. This is the second consecutive year the senior has earned the accolade. Kokrak joins fourteen others on the All Regional team while Charlotte, Rhode Island and Richmond are the only other Atlantic 10 schools to place golfers on the team.

Kokrak, a Warren, Ohio native ended the season with a 71.67 average while shooting a team-high 18 rounds under par. He finished tied for third place at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship, and took home individual first-place honors at the Air Force Invitational, Xavier Invitational, and Bruce Fossum Invitational. Kokrak completed the season with six top-10 and seven top-20 finishes. He was the only member of the Xavier squad to earn an NCAA Regional birth where he missed the cutoff to proceed to the finals by one shot.

Xavier closed out its season at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship on May 4-6 with a second-place finish. The Musketeers will lose two of the top-five players next season when XU looks to re-enter NCAA Championship play.
