Men's Golf Struggles At NCAAs
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. --- The play of freshman John Streibich and sophomore Andy Pope was the bright spot for the Xavier men's golf team on another challenging day during the NCAA Tournament.
Streibich carded a 2-over 74 and Pope finished with a 4-over 76 on Friday as the Musketeers shot a 316 as a team in the Midwest Regional second round at the Kampen Course at Purdue's Brick Boilermaker Golf Complex.
Streibich's round moved his total score to 158, putting him in a tie for 92nd overall.
Pope has played the first two rounds at 7-over par, with his 151 putting him in a tie for 34th.
Freshman Jason Kokrak shot an 81 on Friday. Senior Miles Maillet had an 85 and Junior Neal Grusczynski carded an 86 in the second round.
Xavier's total score through two rounds of 628 places them 22nd overall.
Xavier will tee off of No. 1 beginngin at 1:36 on Saturday for the final round.
