Maillet Shoots Even Par for Musketeers
AUBURN, Wash. --- Junior Miles Maillet shot an even-par 72 to remain at 3-over in the NCAA West Regional at Washington National Golf Course. Maillet will enter the final round tied for 30th, 10 strokes off the lead.
As a team during Friday’s second round, the Musketeers shot their second 20-over 308 in a row, giving them a two-round total of 616. That places XU in a tie for 21st, and leaves Xavier 22 strokes away from 10th place, the last spot from the region that will be invited to the NCAA Finals in Oklahoma.
Maillet has a two-round score of 147. His 72 on Friday is the second lowest score ever by a Xavier golfer in NCAA Tournament action.
Neal Grusczynski shot a 5-over 77 and freshman Andy Pope shot an 8-over 80 and are both tied for 98th with a two-round total of 13-over 157.
Senior Tim Smith posted a 7-over 79 on Friday and is tied for 104th overall, and Bryon Harger is tied for 111th after a 10-over 82 in the second round.
The Musketeers will tee off in the final round from the 10th tee beginning at 2:51 p.m. Eastern.
