May 8, 2007

CINCINNATI - Senior Jason Kokrak, a four-time All-Atlantic 10 Performer, has been selected to represent Xavier University as an individual in the Central Regional of the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship. Kokrak will begin play at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. on Thursday, May 17.  He will tee off at 2:32 EDT.

"I am very happy that Jason has earned the opportunity to compete in the NCAA Tournament," said head coach Doug Steiner. "Although we are disappointed that we did not make the field as a team, I know Jason is a terrific player who will represent Xavier well as an individual."

Kokrak is one of six individuals selected to compete in the Central Regional and the top-two finishers among those six and of the individuals from the 17 teams that don't advance will move onto the NCAA Final, which will be held from May 30 - June 2 at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va.

A native of Warren, Ohio, Kokrak led the Musketeers with a 71.67 scoring average and 18 rounds under par on the year. He notched six top-ten finishes including three medalist honors during his senior campaign. Kokrak is the Musketeers career scoring average leader at 72.40.

He is also tied with Neal Grusczynski and John Streibich for the most rounds played at Xavier with 142.5.

Kokrak is no stranger to NCAA Tournament competition as he helped XU to team appearances in 2004, 2005 and 2006. The Musketeers also qualified in 2001 and 2003.
