Men's Golf Takes Second at Atlantic-10 Championships

CINCINNATI - The Xavier University men's golf team fired a score of 281 (-7) today in the final round of the 2007 Atlantic-10 Championships at the Orange County National Golf Center, but it was not enough to overtake first-place Charlotte as the 49ers held to win the A-10 Championship by nine strokes. The Musketeers finished at 31-under par (833).

Leading the Musketeers was senior Jason Kokrak whose three-day total was 208 (-8). Kokrak fired a final round score of 71 (-1) to go with rounds of 70 (-2) and 67 (-5), finishing tied for third on the individual leader board.

Senior John Streibich turned in a final round of 71 (-1) after rounds of 68 (-4) and 71 (-1) for a three-round total of 210 (-6). Streibich finished fifth for tournament. Following Streibich by a stroke was junior Brian Keating who finished sixth at 211 (-5) with a final round score of 69 (-3). Keating carded 71 (-1) on the first and second rounds of the tournament.

Rounding out the Xavier lineup was freshman Alan Glynn and sophomore Mike Beausejour who both turned in a final score of 212 (-4). Glynn's final round score of 75 (+3) came after carding first and second round scores of 73 (+1) and 64 (-8). Beausejour's final round score of 70 (-2) followed scores of 70 (-2) and 72 (E).

The Musketeers will now await word on an at-large berth to the NCAA Regionals, which will be announced on Monday, May 6. Check back at GOXAVIER.com for updated information tomorrow night.
