CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -The Xavier men's golf team is set to compete in the 34th annual Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship at Heron Bay Golf Club. Sebastian MacLean, Chris Burger, Yuki Kato, Tanapol Vattanapisit and Korey Ward will look to bring home some championship hardware.

MacLean leads the team in scoring average at 71.30 and has had a spectacular spring season, earning top three finishes in three of the four events including a win at the Bash at the Beach. MacLean is currently ranked 90th in the country according to GolfStat. Ward is second on the team in scoring average with a 73.96. Coming into the tournament, Xavier is averaging a 293.10 as a team and is ranked 90th on GolfStat.

The Musketeers won the A-10 Championship team title most recently in 2005 and also has wins in 2003, 2001 and 1998. Xavier has had nine medalists in its 16 seasons in the conference, with Herbert Day being the latest having won in a sudden-death playoff last year. As a team, Xavier finished second last season.

In its history, Xavier has had five A-10 Outstanding Rookies, including MacLean. Head coach Doug Steiner has been named Coach of the Year three times with the most recent nod coming in 2005.

The Musketeers are coming off of the Crosstown Shootout with the University of Cincinnati. The event was held at Maketewah Country Club on Apr. 24 with the Musketeers edging out the Bearcats 13.5 to 4.5. Burger, Nick Helser, Connor Tendall and Doug Steiner were all able to win three points for the team with Burger shooting the team low round of 71.

The Xavier student-athlete Honor's Day saw four men's golfers set recognized. MacLean won the Sedlar Award which is given to the student-athlete who has demonstrated hard work and enthusiasm during their career at Xavier. Junior Aaron Siekmann won the "High GPA Award" for the team and seniors Burger and Steiner were given the "Achieving Senior Award".
