Trio Ties for Third for Men's Golf at Marshall
HUNTINGTON, W.V. --- Three Xavier golfers tied for third place in the Marshall Invitational as the Musketeer men's golf team finished second in the two-day event.
As a team, Xavier shot an even-par 284 in Saturday's final round to finish with a 4-over 856 in the three-round event.
Freshman John Streibich fired a 70 for Xavier on Saturday, pushing him to an even-par 213 for the tournament and placing him in a three-way tie with teammates Andy Pope and Miles Maillet for third in the tournament.
Pope shot a 1-over 72 and Maillet finished with a 73 on Saturday.
Neal Grusczynski had Saturday's low round for the Musketeers with a 69. He tied for 12th with a 4-over 217 for the tournament.
Jason Kokrak tied for 34th overall with a 222 while Kenton Hobbs, who played as an individual, tied for 44th with a 226.
Xavier finished nine shots behind first place Ohio State, but seven shots ahead of third place Marshall, the tournament host.
The Musketeers return to action on April 17 in the Robert Kepler Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
