Men's Golf Closes Fall Season With Ninth Place Finish At The Cobra-PUMA Invite

MIROMAR LAKES, Fla. - Tanapol Vattanapisit (Rayong, Thailand/The Pendleton School) finished at 4-over par (74-74-72) and took 20th place as the Xavier men’s golf team took ninth place at the Xavier-FGCU Cobra-PUMA Invitational played at Miromar Lakes Golf Club.
FGCU’s Edward Figueroa and Ryan McCormick from St. John’s both finished at 12-under par, but McCormick took the individual title by beating Figueroa in the final round 67-69. Florida Gulf Coast took the team title with a 855 (282-286-287), 13 strokes ahead of second place FAU and 14 shots in front of third place finisher Bethune-Cookman.
Yuki Kato (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran) shot 3-over on the final day to finish in a tie for 33rd place with a two-day score of 224 (75-74-75). Korey Ward (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) turned in a 226 (74-71-81) and took home a share of 38th place.
Matt Wetterich (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle HS) and Nicholas Crozier rounded out the Musketeer scorecard. Wetterich registered a 228 (82-71-75) and finished in a tie for 43rd place, while Crozier finished the event at 232 (82-72-78) good for 57th place.
John Burger (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle), one of four Musketeers competing as an individual, carded a 3-over 219 (77-70-72) and finished tied for 16th place.
The Blue and White will return to the course when they open the spring campaign with a trip to Dade City, Fla. to compete at the MAC Match Play Tournament from Feb. 10-11.
