BEALLSVILLE, Md. - Korey Ward (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) carded a 1-over 72 on day two to finish tied for 14th place as the Xavier men’s golf team took tenth place at the 2013 Georgetown Intercollegiate played at The Members Club at Four Streams.
Paul Dunne of UAB turned in an even-par 71 to win the individual crown with a 209 (69-69-71). UAB took the team title with a 847 (278-282-287), 18 strokes ahead of second place Notre Dame and 29 shots in front of third place finisher Penn State.
Yuki Kato (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran) shot 3-over on the final day to finish in a tie for 24th place. Tanapol Vattanapisit (Rayong, Thailand/The Pendleton School) carded a third round 77 and also took home a share of 24th place.
Matt Wetterich (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle HS) and Matt Gerard (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius) rounded out the Musketeer scorecard. Wetterich registered a 4-over 75 and finished in a tie for 52nd place, while Gerard’s final round 77 was good for 59th place.
John Burger (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle), competing as an individual, carded a 1-over 72 and finished tied for 31st place.
The Blue and White return to the course next week when they host the Cobra-PUMA Invitational held at Miromar Lakes Golf Club in Fort Myers, Fla. The 54-hole event will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday, Oct. 27, as the 13-team field will play 36 holes before concluding with another 9 a.m. shotgun on Monday, Oct. 28.
