MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Xavier University men’s golf team shot a final round of 378 (+18) to finish the 2009 Memphis Invitational tied with Louisiana Tech University for 13th place.  The Muskies finished with the invitational with a 48-over par 912 (379-385-378) at the par-72 Colonial Country Club.

After battling tough weather conditions on the first day, even having to suspend round two play due to darkness, XU and the rest of the players were rewarded with a beautiful day to play golf.

Aaron Siekmann, who finished the first day tied for second place, went 5-over par on the last round giving him a final 10-over par 226 (72-77-77).  Siekmann ended the day tied for 26th place out of a field of 90.

Tne stroke behind Siekmann was sophomore Sebastian MacLean who shot rounds of 75-78-74 to finish the invitational with an 11-over par 227 and tied for 32nd place.  Junior Peter O’Neil shot rounds of 77-77-75—229 (+13) to end up tied for 39th.


 

 

Senior Alan Glynn finished tied for 44th after shooting rounds of 77-78-77—230 (+14).  Freshman Herbert Day ended the day tied for 57th place with a 17-over par 233 (78-78-77).

The Musketeers travel down to Fort Meyers, Fla. to compete in the Renaissance Invitational November 1-2.  This will wrap up the fall season for Xavier.  Stay tuned to goxavier.com for more information about men’s golf.
