Men's Golf Falls To Eighth Place After Second Round Of The Badger Invitational

MADISON, Wis. - Yuki Kato (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran) carded a 1-over 73 and sits tied for fourth place on the individual leaderboard as the Xavier men’s golf team is in eighth place after day two of the 2013 Badger Invitational played at the University Ridge Golf Course.
The Musketeers team score of 590 (287-303) put them four shots out of a top five position and seven shots out of second place. South Carolina's 36-hole total 11-uunder 282-283--565 is the third best Badger Invitational total and ties for fifth best in University Ridge records.
South Carolina's Matthew NeSmith had the best round of the day with a 5-under 67. Teammate Caleb Sturgeon, who had the top round yesterday with a record-tying 65, matched par today to retain his lead by two strokes over NeSmith with a 7-under 65 (65-72/137). Sturgeon's score ties the second best 36-hole round of the Badger Invitational records and ties for 5th best in University Ridge records.
Korey Ward (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) and Matt Gerard (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius) are tied for 25th place after two rounds, turning in a 74 and 79, respectively. John Burger (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) carded a 5-over 77 and sits tied for 55th place.
Tanapol Vattanapisit (Rayong, Thailand/The Pendleton School) rounded out the Musketeer scoring and sits in 66th place, carding an 85 on day two.
The final 18 holes will be played in a shotgun format beginning at 10:30 a.m. at University Ridge Golf Course. Results will be posted on GoXavier.com at the conclusion of the tournament.
