Men's Golf Saves Best For Last; Finishes in Sixth at Rutherford Invitational

Final Results

 

FARMINGTON, Pa. – The Xavier University men’s golf team rallied to shoot a four-over par 292 in the final round and finished in sixth place at the Rutherford Invitational at the Mystic Rock Course at Namacolin in Farmington, Pa. 

 

Xavier’s 292 in the final round was tied for the fifth-lowest score of the tournament.  

 

Junior Alan Glynn led the way for XU with a 10-over par 226.  Glynn fired a one-over par 73 in the final round and finished in a tie for 20th. 


 

 

 

Freshman Sebastian MacLean shot a one-under par 71 in the final round as he and senior Kyle Hodges finished in a tie for 29th with a 12-over par 228. 

 

Freshman Chris Burger concluded the tournament at 43rd place with a 17-over par 233 and sophomore Peter O’Neill finished in 61st place at 242.  O’Neill struggled in the first two rounds but got it together on Tuesday, carding a one-over par 73.  

 

Both O’Neill and Glynn carded eagles in the final round.

 

XU is back in action on September 8 and 9 when the team heads west to compete at the Olympic Club Collegiate in San Francisco, Calif.
