CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - A heartbreaking end to the 2012 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship for the men's golf team as the final round of play was canceled due to weather. Incessant rain in the area proved to make the course unplayable.
Due to tiebreaker, Xavier finished third behind champion George Washington and runner-up Charlotte.
Seniors Sebastian MacLean and Chris Burger finished in the top five. MacLean finished in third place with a tournament total of 4-under-par 140. Burger was fifth with a 3-under-par 141. MacLean led the tournament in par-4 scoring with a 3.70 average, while Burger led the field in par-3 scoring with a 2.63 average. Both seniors were named to the All-Conference team, it was the first honor of Burger's career and the third of MacLean's.
Sophomore Yuki Kato ended in a tie for 16th place with a 1-over-par 145. Kato tied MacLean for the most birdies on the team with nine and he had a 3.85 par-4 scoring average. Freshman Korey Ward was the fourth Musketeer to finish in the top 25, with a 3-over-par 147 for 23rd place. Freshman Tanapol Vattanapisit finished 31st with a 5-over-par 149 tournament total.
