Men's Golf In Fourth Place After Day Two Of The BIG EAST Men's Golf Championships

CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. - The Xavier men’s golf team registered a day-two 295 to move up a spot into fourth place after the second round at the 2014 BIG EAST Men’s Golf Championship presented by NEW YORK LIFE at the Callawassie Island Golf Club.
Ryan McCormick of St. John’s fired a second round 71 (71-71/142) and sits atop the individual leaderboard three strokes ahead of teammate Ben Ludlam (70-75/145). Seton Hall's Lloyd Jefferson Go carded an even-par 72 and is a stroke in front of trio tied for fourth. Marquette's Brandon Cloete and C.J. Swift and Yuki Kato (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran) are all tied for fourth.
The top three teams stayed the same from round one to round two. SJU leads the tournament (585), while Marquette (595) is second and Seton Hall (608) is third. Xavier (609) is one stroke behind the Pirates and jumped into fourth place after tying St. John's for the lowest round of the day at 295. DePaul (610) is one stroke behind the Musketeers in fifth place.
Kato bounced back from an opening round 77 with a 2-under 70 on day two and now sits in a tie for 4th place. Tanapol Vattanapisit (Rayong, Thailand/The Pendleton School) shot 1-over 73 and moved up ten spots on the leaderboard to grab a share of 10th place.
Korey Ward (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) carded a 76 (+4) to move into a tie for 25th place, while John Burger (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle HS) and Matt Wetterich (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle HS) each own a share of 30th place after recording 76 and 81, respectively, on the day.
The Championships conclude on Tuesday with teams starting at both the Dogwood and Magnolia courses at 8 a.m. (ET). The Championship is free and open to the public. Team and individual awards will be distributed at the conclusion of the third round.
