Xavier will be paired with Rhode Island and Dayton in round two

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - The Xavier men's golf team finished in fourth place after the first day of play at the Atlantic 10 Championship at Heron Bay Golf Club. Senior Chris Burger leads the Musketeers and sits in a tie for sixth place.
The Musketeers finished with a 2-over-par 290 team score and are six shots off of George Washington who is in the lead at 4-under-par 288. Richmond is in second at 3-under-par 285 and Charlotte is in third with a 2-under-par 286.
Burger had a solid round for the Musketeers, carding a 1-under-par 71. The senior had three birdies on the front and finished his round with 12 straight pars. Classmate Sebastian MacLean finished even on the day and is tied for 11th.
Freshman Tanapol Vattanapisit turned even and two bogeys within the first three holes on the back nine had him at 2-over-par going into No. 13. A birdie on No. 16 and two pars would get Vattanapisit to 1-over-par 73 for the day to sit in a tie for 18th. Sophomore Yuki Kato turned at 2-under-par and some unfortunate breaks on the back would bring him to 2-over-par 74 for 27th place. Freshman Korey Ward ended the day with a 4-over-par 76 for 38th place.
