Men's Golf Takes 12th Place At The Rutherford Intercollegiate

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Junior Tanapol Vattanapisit (Rayong, Thailand/The Pendleton School) finished in a tie for 24th place individually to lead the Xavier University men's golf team to a 12th place finish at the 2014 Rutherford Intercollegiate.
Minnesota’s Jose Mendez (68-65-74/207; -6) took the individual title, while the host Golden Gophers took the team title with an 860 (+8), 12 shots ahead of the second place Seton Hall Pirates, who finished with an 872 (+20).
Yuki Kato (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran) shot a 73 (77-77-73/227) on the final day to finish in a tie for 49th place. Matt Wetterich (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle HS) and Matt Gerard (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius) registered final round scores of 78 and 81, respectively, to finish tied for 53rd place.
John Burger (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle HS) rounded out the Blue and White’s scorecard after firing rounds of 83, 73 and 74 to grab a piece of 63rd place.
The Rutherford Intercollegiate marked the end of the regular season for the Musketeers. The team will head to the BIG EAST Championship in Callawassie Island, S.C. April 26-29.
