Kannapolis, N.C. --- The Xavier University men's golf team shot its best round of the tournament today, the final of its three rounds in the Irish Creek Collegiate in Kannapolis, N.C. XU shot a 297 behind Korey Ward and Yuki Kato, who each shot one-over-par 72 on Sunday.
XU's 297, which was eight shots better than any of the first two round scores, left the Musketeers with a final total of 909. The Musketeers finished last out of 17 teams. North Carolina won the title with a 7-over-par total of 859.
Korey Ward was once again Xavier's top finisher. Ward's three-round total of 217 earned a tie for the number 19 spot on the leaderboard.
Fellow Atlantic 10 Conference school Charlotte was technically the host school of this event, although the tournament is being run by the Charlotte Regional Sports Commission.
Xavier has added a date to the spring schedule with the Detroit Golf Club Invitational on Friday.
