Men's Golf Finish First Round in Ninth Place

PINEHURST, N.C. – The Xavier men’s golf team finished the first round of the Pinehurst Invitational tied for ninth place with a score of 299 (+15). The Musketeers are tied with Eastern Michigan in the 16 team field. Only four strokes separate the Musketeers from being in sixth place.
Aaron Siekmann leads the team with a first round score of 73 (+2) and is currently tied for 19th place. Siekmann only had one birdie for the round but was able to par 14 of the other 18 holes. Korey Ward and Yuki Kato are both tied for 37th place with an opening round score of 75 (+4).
Connor Tendall was only one stroke back from Kato and Ward, shooting a 76 (+5) and sits tied for 50th. Matt Gerard rounded out the team after he carded an 83 (+11) and is in 82nd place. Ward, Tendall, and Gerard were all tied with three birdies each.
Old Dominion leads the field with a team score of 286 (+2).
