Dec. 7, 2008
CINCINNATI --- Xavier senior guard/forward B.J. Raymond earned Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week honors after setting career highs for points (32), three-pointers (7) and total field goals (10) while leading Xavier to an 81-74 win over Auburn this past Wednesday.
Raymond’s 32 points are the most by an XU player since then-freshman Stanley Burrell dropped 32 at Duquesne in the 2004-05 season. Raymond’s previous career high was 22, which he set against Richmond last season. Raymond shot 10-of-13 (.769) from the field against Auburn, including 7-of-9 (.777) from three-point territory.
Raymond, who did not average double figures in scoring in any of his first three seasons at Xavier, now leads 7-0 Xavier in scoring at 13.7 ppg. through seven games.
Xavier hosts Ohio University on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Cintas Center. Plenty of tickets are still available for purchase through the ticket page of GoXavier.com or through ticketmaster.
Ahmad Nivins of Saint Joseph’s also earned A-10 Conference Player of the Week honors this week after averaging 19 points and 14 rebounds in games against Lehigh and Creighton.
