CINCINNATI --- Xavier University sophomore guard Semaj Christon continues to add to his impressive list of preseason honors, earning a spot on the preseason Men's Basketball Naismith Trophy Watch List. The entire list is available at www.naismithawards.com.

Earlier this month Christon was named on the Top 50 list for the John R. Wooden Award presented by Wendy's. That complete list, which is available at www.WoodenAward.com was chosen by a preseason poll of national college basketball experts and was announced by The Los Angeles Athletic Club.

Christon, a team tri-captain and preseason First Team All-BIG EAST Conference selection, had previously been named as a candidate for the Bob Cousy Award as the nation's top collegiate point guard. In addition, he was named as a 2013-14 Third Team preseason All-American in the Athlon Sports preseason college basketball magazine and on NBCSports.com.  College SportsMadness.com named Christon as a Fourth Team preseason All-American. In addition, CBSSports.com has him ranked as the 19th-best player in college basketball.

Christon leads Xavier, 4-0, in scoring (16.3 ppg.) and assists (4.8 apg.). He scored in double figures in 23 straight games dating back to last season.

Christon piled up the honors following his freshman season, including selection to the 2013 Kyle Macy Freshman All-America Team (CollegeInsider.com), NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) District 4 Second Team, Xavier's first-ever Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year selection and a spot on the 2012-13 Atlantic 10 Conference Second Team, the first XU freshman ever named to the A-10 first, second or third team.
