CINCINNATI --- Xavier University opens the 2013-14 men’s basketball season on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Cintas Center with an exhibition game against Quincy University.

Saturday’s game is Xavier’s lone public exhibition game. Tickets for all remaining seats for the exhibition game cost $20. Fans can purchase tickets through or contact the Xavier Athletic Ticket Office at 513-745-3417 for more information.

Quincy University is an NCAA Division II program located in Quincy, Ill. The Hawks, 12-15 last season, hired 2013 Xavier graduate Adam Notteboom as a graduate assistant coach.

Xavier University, 17-14 last season, returns six scholarship letterwinners from last season and a talented group of five scholarship newcomers to take Xavier into its first year as a BIG EAST member. Fifth-year head coach Chris Mack is 10 wins shy of becoming just the fourth coach in Xavier history to reach 100 wins. Mack will go for his 91st wins in the regular season opener next Friday.

Xavier plays five home games to open the 2013-14 regular season beginning with next Friday’s game against Gardner-Webb. XU hosts Tennessee (Nov. 12), Morehead State (Nov. 15), Miami (Ohio) (Nov. 20) and Abilene-Christian on Nov. 25. Then XU travels to the Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis.

The Xavier men’s basketball team enters a new era in the 2013-14 season as it begins play in the BIG EAST Conference after 18 very successful seasons as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference. XU opens the BIG EAST portion of the schedule on Dec. 31 at noon against St. John’s in a game that will be nationally-televised on FOX Sports 1.

For Xavier fans interested in learning more about the team, the 2013-14 Xavier men’s basketball media guides will be on sale Saturday on the concourse and again at next Friday’s regular season opener.
