CINCINNATI --- Xavier University sophomore guard Semaj Christon continues to add to his impressive list of preseason honors, earning a spot on the Bob Cousy Award Watch List. The Bob Cousy Award is given annually to the nation’s top collegiate point guard.

Christon, a team tri-captain and preseason First Team All-BIG EAST Conference selection, has been named as a 2013-14 Third Team preseason All-American in the Athlon Sports preseason college basketball magazine and on  College named Christon as a Fourth Team preseason All-American. In addition, has him ranked as the 19th-best player in college basketball.  Christon spent the summer competing against many of the best guards in the country at the Deron Williams/Kyrie Irving Nike Basketball Point Guard Skills Academy in New Jersey and the LeBron James Skills Academy in Las Vegas.

Christon led XU in scoring (15.2 ppg.), assists at (4.6 apg.) and steals (1.5 spg.) as a freshman. He scored in double figures in 27 games, including 19 straight games to end the season. Christon piled up the honors following his freshman season, including selection to the 2013 Kyle Macy Freshman All-America Team (, NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) District 4 Second Team, Xavier’s first-ever Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year selection and a spot on the 2012-13 Atlantic 10 Conference Second Team, the first XU freshman ever named to the A-10 first, second or third team.

Xavier opens the 2013-14 season on Saturday, Nov. 2 with an exhibition game against Quincy College at 4 p.m. at Cintas Center.
