The wait is over. It's time for college basketball in Cincinnati. Xavier men's and women's basketball fans are excited about the upcoming season. Musketeer fans can catch the first glimpse of the XU basketball teams on Saturday, October 20 at the annual Skyline Chili Musketeer Madness. Head coaches Sean Miller and Kevin McGuff encourage Xavier fans to join them to usher in the 2007-08 basketball season at Cintas Center. The entire event is FREE and open to the general public. All seating is general admission.
Cintas Center doors will open at 5 p.m. and the festivities will begin promptly at 6 p.m. The Xavier basketball teams will be introduced at 6:45 p.m. and will scrimmage shortly thereafter. There will be a number of great contests throughout the night as well as a return of the annual Slam Dunk contest. Junior Derrick Brown will look to defend his two-time Slam Dunk championship crown. The festivities will include prize giveaways including personal electronics and round-trip airfare for two, and will also feature a performance by the All-American Frisbee Dogs.
"Musketeer Madness is a great way to begin the season and it's an event our players and fans look forward to," said men's basketball head coach Sean Miller.
Women's basketball head coach Kevin McGuff added "We have a young team this year and this is a nice opportunity for our student-athletes to experience the exciting atmosphere of Xavier basketball at Cintas Center."
Fans are encouraged to arrive early again this year for the Party on the Plaza outside of Cintas Center. Last year's Party on the Plaza was the first time such an event was held and it was a huge success. The event will begin at 4 p.m. and feature food and games along with music and entertainment from 94.9FM.
