CINCINNATI -- -

Xavier University announced today that Learfield Sports has become its first-ever, exclusive athletics multi-media partner, effective with the 2008-09 academic year.

The 10-year agreement calls for Learfield Sports to establish a locally based entity, known as "Xavier Sports Properties" (XSP), to manage and sell Xavier Athletics' multimedia rights that include all signage, scoreboards and videoboards for the 10,250-seat Cintas Center - the state-of-the-art, on-campus home to the men's and women's basketball teams as well as the volleyball team.  Additionally, XSP will oversee the comprehensive rights for various print opportunities, such as game programs; Xavier's official athletic Web site; certain television rights, including some live men's basketball games, as well as radio rights.  XSP will also have the exclusive right to sell luxury suites in the Cintas Center.

Contract terms also provide for Learfield Sports to financially assist with the funding of major new electronic equipment in the Cintas Center, including signage, scoreboard and videoboards.

"We are delighted to partner with Learfield Sports," commented Xavier University Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Mike Bobinski.  "As the national leader in collegiate sports marketing they've developed a business philosophy and culture ideally suited for Xavier.  We are excited to add the resources and expertise of Learfield Sports to our team, and we look forward to the important role they will play in the future success of Xavier athletics."

"Representing Xavier presents a tremendous opportunity for our company, and we're excited for the chance to work alongside Mike and his team as we help them reach their goals," said Greg Brown, president of Learfield Sports.

With the addition of Xavier, the company now manages multimedia rights for 37 collegiate institutions and associations.  Learfield Sports also manages the marketing partnerships for the Black Coaches & Administrators (BCA) and provides exclusive sports programming to more than 1,000 radio stations throughout the country.  Additionally, Team Services, LLC, a Learfield Sports company, specializes in venue naming rights, marketing research and sales consultation.

Dallas-based Learfield Sports is an operating unit of Jefferson City, Mo.-based Learfield Communications, Inc., which made its initial foray into the world of sports marketing in 1975 as the radio rights holder for the University of Missouri, a client still today.  For more information and a complete listing of Learfield Sports' portfolio, visit www.learfieldsports.com.
