Jordan Crawford Shows Off His Skills At The LeBron James Skills Academy

July 7, 2009

Xavier University sophomore guard Jordan Crawford is among a select group of elite college basketball players that are serving as counselors at Nike's LeBron James Skills Academy this week in Akron, Ohio. The event provides Crawford the opportunity to work with the country’s best high school players and challenge himself against some great competition, including college and pro players.

The LeBron James U.S. Skills Academy is July 5-8 in Akron, Ohio. The goal of the The Nike Skills Academies is to instill the fundamentals into the next generation of top players. Each academy focuses on strength and conditioning and skill development. In addition to the on-court instruction the players also get to hear from the NBA athletes and the coaches on life lessons and what it takes to make it at the next level.

Crawford has opened some eyes with his play this week, according to a story by Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com.

Crawford practiced last season with the Musketeers after sitting out due to transfer regulations.

Crawford played in 30 games, starting eight times, as an Indiana University freshman in the 2007-08 season while logging 25.3 minutes per game. Crawford averaged 9.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as a freshman, while helping the Hoosiers finish 25-8 overall and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament. He scored in double figures 15 times, including a career-high 21 at Northwestern and 20 against Kentucky in a pair of wins. In fact, IU recorded a 13-2 record when Crawford scored in double figures.

Crawford was rated as the 11th best post-graduate player in the 2007 recruiting class by Scout.com after averaging 19.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 8.5 assists for Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy in the 2006-07 season. Prior to attending Hargrave, Crawford earned All-State honors at Detroit’s Communications and Media Arts High School.
