CINCINNATI – The Xavier University men’s basketball team has finalized plans to square-off against Duke during the 2008-09 season. The Musketeers will take on the Blue Devils on Saturday, December 20 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J. Game time is set for 2 p.m. and the contest will be televised nationally on CBS.
The 19,500 IZOD Center, home to the New Jersey Nets and adjacent to Giants Stadium, is located just 12 miles from Newark International Airport.
The contest marks the first time a regular-season Xavier game will be showcased on CBS. XU has appeared on CBS during NCAA Tournament action a total of 11 times in the last five years.
Individual tickets priced at $75 and $55 will go on sale Monday, October 20 at 11:00 a.m. through Ticketmaster only. The game will mark the fourth meeting between XU and Duke with the Blue Devils winning the previous three decisions. Duke defeated Xavier by a 65-60 count in the second round of the 1987 NCAA Tournament and by a 66-63 margin in the 2004 NCAA Elite Eight. The Musketeers also traveled to Duke on December 4, 1993 and dropped an 82-60 decision at Cameron Indoor Arena.
