CINCINNATI --- Xavier University announced two additions to its 2014-15 men’s basketball non-conference schedule. The Musketeers signed a two-year deal with Missouri, the first game being played in Columbia, Mo., in the 2014-15 season with the Tigers visiting Cintas Center in the 2015-16 season. In addition, Xavier announced a one-year deal that will bring Florida Gulf Coast to Cintas Center in the 2014-15 season.

Missouri, 23-12 overall this past season and 9-9 in the SEC, earned a berth in the National Invitation Tournament. MU played in five-straight NCAA Tournaments from 2009-13. Florida Gulf Coast, 22-13 overall, won the regular season title of the Atlantic Sun Conference and also earned an NIT berth. FGCU, a.k.a. Dunk City, was the Cinderella of the 2013 NCAA Tournament, winning its way to the Sweet 16.

The Xavier-Missouri series matches up two teams that have home venues that are ranked among the top dozen home courts in college basketball. Xavier was the eighth-toughest home court in college basketball and Missouri was 11th in the latest rankings by

The Xavier-Missouri all-time series is tied 2-2 with some exciting history. Xavier won the last meeting between the two schools in the opening round of the 2008 ESPN Puerto Rico Tip-Off. Xavier beat Missouri 75-71, then topped Virginia Tech and Memphis on the way to winning the Championship. XU recorded its first-ever NCAA Tournament win over Missouri with a 70-69 victory in the 1987 First Round at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis, Ind. Missouri’s two victories included a 72-60 win in the 2001 Wooden Tradition at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and an 83-71 win in the second round of the 1988 Preseason NIT on the Tigers’ home court, the only meeting to date in either school’s home venue.
