March 9, 2010
CINCINNATI --- Sophomore Jordan Crawford, the leading scorer in the Atlantic 10 Conference at 19.7 ppg. to go with 4.7 rpg. and 3.0 apg., has been named as a Third Team All-American by Sporting News. SN announced five All-American teams with five members on each team for a total of 25 honorees. Crawford is the only Atlantic 10 player listed on the All-American teams. Crawford is the first Xavier player to make one of the top three teams on a major All-American listing since 2003 National Player of the Year David West. In addition, Crawford is the first XU player to ever earn such a prestigious honor as a freshman or sophomore. For the record, West (2001) and Byron Larkin (1986) were AP Honorable Mention All-Americans as sophomores. In addition to the national honors, Sporting News announced All-Atlantic 10 honors as well. Crawford was named A-10 Player of the Year and senior Jason Love was named Second Team All-Atlantic 10. Foxsports.com released its A-10 awards as well and also picked Crawford as the A-10 Player of the Year. The Atlantic 10 Conference coaches had Crawford on their First Team and Love on their Third Team. In addition to the All-American and All-Atlantic 10 honors, Crawford was named today to the USBWA All-District V Team, which covers Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
