Three Xavier Men's Basketball Standouts Earn All-Atlantic 10 Conference Honors

CINCINNATI - Xavier University senior B.J. Raymond was selected to the 2008-09 Atlantic 10 Conference First Team in voting conducted among the conference’s 14 head coaches. Junior teammate Derrick Brown earned a spot on the A-10 Second Team, while senior C.J. Anderson was an A-10 Honorable Mention selection.

Raymond leads the Musketeers in scoring at 13.83 ppg. (14th in the Atlantic 10) and in three-pointers with 71. Brown leads Xavier in rebounding at 6.1 rpg. (tied for 12th in the Atlantic 10) and is right behind Raymond in scoring at 13.80 ppg. (15th in the Atlantic 10). Anderson is third on the team in scoring (10.2 ppg.) and rebounding (5.6 rpg.).

This is the second straight week that Raymond and Brown have earned honors. The NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) named Brown to the NABC District 4 First Team and Raymond to the District 4 Second Team.

Xavier, the top seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship, opens tournament play against the winner of Saint Louis/La Salle on Thursday at noon in Atlantic City, N.J. Xavier, 24-6 overall and 12-4 in the Atlantic 10, won its third straight Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship this year.
