Men's Basketball Prepares For First Game In A-10 Championship

Xavier has recorded a 23-12 (.657) record in A-10 Championship play in 16 tournaments. Xavier has won four Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament Championships, including 1998, 2002, 2004 and 2006.
Xavier, 19-11 overall and 10-6 in the Atlantic 10 Conference, is coming off a 72-63 win over Charlotte on Saturday. CollegeRPI.com (3-5-12) has Xavier at No. 53. Eight Atlantic 10 teams are among the top 100 teams and 10 are among the top 125.
Xavier, 19-11, is just one win away from its seventh straight 20-win season and its 15th 20-win season in 16 years.
Xavier is second in the Atlantic 10 in overall field-goal percentage defense (.398) and 3-point field goal percentage defense (.308).
Xavier has three players who earned 2012 All-Atlantic 10 Conference honors. Senior Tu Holloway is on the A-10 First Team, junior Mark Lyons is on the A-10 Third Team and freshman Dezmine Wells is on the A-10 All-Rookie Team.
Xavier senior All-American Tu Holloway leads the team in scoring at 16.7 ppg. (fifth in the Atlantic 10 Conference). Holloway also leads the team in assists at 5.4 apg. (fourth in the A-10). Holloway is the only A-10 player in the top five in the league in both scoring and assists. He also leads the team in steals (eighth in the A-10 at 1.6 spg.) and free throw percentage (third in the A-10 at .864).
Xavier's Tu Holloway is third on XU's all-time assist list with 535 assists and has dished off 100 or more assists and led the team in three straight seasons. Holloway is 10th on XU's all-time scoring list with 1,706 career points.
Xavier senior Kenny Frease leads the team in rebounding (tied for 14th in the Atlantic 10 at 6.2 rpg.) and is fourth on the team in scoring at 9.3 ppg., including his 18-point, 12-rebound game in the win over Charlotte on March 3.
Xavier's Kenny Frease became the 50th member of the XU 1,000 Point Club during Saturday's game against Charlotte. In addition, he now has 691 career rebounds, which ranks 19th on XU's all-time rebounding list.
Xavier junior Mark Lyons is second on the team in scoring (ninth in the A-10) at 15.7 ppg. Lyons, who now has 1,121 career points, is 33rd on XU's all-time scoring list.
Xavier freshman Dezmine Wells, a 2012 A-10 All-Rookie Team selection by the A-10 coaches and 2012 Sporting News A-10 Freshman of the Year, is third on the team in scoring at 10.1 ppg. and in rebounding at 5.1 rpg. He had career-high scoring games with 19 points at Massachusetts on Feb. 21 and at Memphis on Feb. 4.
Xavier's Dezmine Wells' dunk in the opener vs. Morgan State made the list of eight finalists for ESPN2's Dunks of the Year show that will air March 26.
Xavier made its sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011, one of only 12 schools that can say that. Xavier has made 10 of the last 11 NCAA Tournaments.
Xavier has graduated each of the last 83 men's basketball players that have played as seniors, a streak which dates back to 1986.
