Christon Named ESPN National Player Of The Week; Reynolds Earned BIG EAST Honor

CINCINNATI --- Xavier University sophomore guard Semaj Christon and Xavier freshman forward Jalen Reynolds, former teammates at Brewster Academy (N.H.), each had impressive weeks and earned national and conference honors for their efforts. The duo helped XU win 65-53 at St. John’s on Feb. 25 and defeat No. 9 Creighton 75-69 on March 1.
Christon, named National Player of the Week by ESPN’s Andy Katz, averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals in a pair of 40-minute efforts. In addition, Christon earned a spot on the weekly five-member BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll for the sixth time and was named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week by collegesportsmadness.com for the third time this season.
Reynolds averaged 11.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in Xavier’s two victories. Reynolds posted career highs of 17 points and 16 rebounds against St. John’s at Madison Square Garden. The 16 rebounds tied the Xavier freshman record and tied for the fifth-best rebound total by any XU player over the last 10 years.
