Men's Basketball Hits The Road Again For A Wednesday Tilt At George Washington

Xavier, 14-7 overall and 5-3 in the Atlantic 10 Conference, snapped its two-game losing streak with a 74-70 win at Charlotte on Saturday. Senior Tu Holloway led Xavier with 17 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals. Senior Kenny Frease and freshman Dezmine Wells each chipped in 12 points.
Xavier is ranked 46th in this week's Official NCAA RPI Report (1-30-12). The Atlantic 10 Conference has nine teams in the top 100 of the NCAA's RPI listing.
Xavier is ranked first in the Atlantic 10 Conference in 3-point field goal percentage defense (.296) and in overall field goal percentage defense (.392).
Xavier junior Mark Lyons leads the team in scoring and is second in the Atlantic 10 at 16.6 ppg., and is second on the team in assists at 2.8 apg. Lyons enters the game at GW with 998 career points, which puts him two points shy of becoming the 49th member of Xavier's 1,000 Point Club.
Xavier senior All-American Tu Holloway is second on the team in scoring at 16.1 ppg. (fourth in the Atlantic 10 Conference) and leads the team in assists at 5.6 apg. (fourth in the A-10). Holloway also leads the team in steals (sixth in the A-10 at 1.8 spg.) and free throw percentage (third in the A-10 at .854).
Xavier senior Tu Holloway has dished off 100 or more assists in three straight seasons, including 107 this season so far. Holloway is one of only eight Xavier players that has at least three 100-assist seasons. Holloway is fourth on XU's all-time assist list with 491 assists and is just five shy of third place Keith Walker (496 from 1976-80). Holloway is 16th on XU's all-time scoring list with 1,544 career points and just 13 points shy of taking over the 15th spot.
Xavier freshman Dezmine Wells, a preseason A-10 All-Rookie selection, is third on the team in scoring at 9.6 ppg. and in rebounding at 5.4 rpg. He has grabbed a team-high 6.5 rpg. in Atlantic 10 Conference games.
Xavier junior Jeff Robinson has averaged 9.3 ppg. and 4.0 rpg. in 20.8 minutes per game over the last six games while shooting 75.8 percent (25-of-33) from the field over that stretch. Robinson started the game at Charlotte this past Saturday.
Xavier senior Kenny Frease is fourth on the team in scoring at 8.9 ppg., second in rebounding at 5.6 rpg. and first in blocks at 1.3 bpg. Frease scored 12 points on the strength of 5-of-8 shooting from the field at Charlotte on Saturday.
Xavier graduate student Andre Walker leads the team in rebounding at 6.0 rpg., including a career-high tying 14 rebounds at Fordham on Jan. 7.
Xavier made its sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011, one of only 12 schools that can say that. Xavier has made 10 of the last 11 NCAA Tournaments.
Xavier has graduated each of the last 83 men's basketball players that have played as seniors, a streak which dates back to 1986.
