CINCINNATI -The Xavier Musketeers dropped a 72-65 decision to Gonzaga at Cintas Center Saturday, Dec. 31. Junior Mark Lyons and seniors Tu Holloway and Kenny Frease all scored in double figures for the Musketeers.

Lyons and Holloway each had 15 points while Frease chipped in 12. Frease was the squad's leading rebounder with six boards on the night. Andre Walker had a career-high three blocks to go with six points and five boards.

Both teams shot similarly from the floor (Gonzaga 44.1%-Xavier 42.4%), but the key proved to be three-point field goals and rebounds. The Bulldogs dominated the glass 44-31 and were able to drain eight shots from downtown for a 42.1 percent effort. The Musketeers connected on three treys for 16.7 percent.

Xavier now falls to 9-4 on the season, while Gonzaga improves to 11-2. The Bulldogs lead the series, 3-1.

Sam Dower was the game's leading scorer with 20 points, a season high, while also grabbing 10 boards. He was 7-of-11f from the floor. Kevin Pangos and Elias Harris also scored in double figures for Gonzaga.
