Cincinnati Head Coach Mick Cronin
"We got beat by a better team today. That's pretty clear. Xavier's defense on the perimeter is pretty good. We thought we were going to have to some inside presence, but we didn't. I would give credit to Xavier."
"You've got to make layups. You've got to make open shots. When [one team] scores 76 in this game, it's over. That team's going to win."
On the brawl "I saw [some Xavier players] talking to our bench. They were talking to our assistant coaches. I repeatedly asked the referees to stop it. I saw it coming and tried to call a timeout."
"All these kids need to know they're here to get an education at two great universities. They need to appreciate that. They need to learn how to act. It's a prime example of guys thinking they're too important. Xavier's been a great school for years, and we're trying to cure cancer at my university."
"I've never been this embarrassed. We represent an institution of higher learning. I made everyone [on the UC team] take their jersey off."
"There should have been multiple technical fouls way before the incident. There's no place for that in intercollegiate athletics."
On the game "We kept attacking. We wore them down."
"You've got to amp it up so much. This is a rivalry game. The media is the reason it is so amped up."
Xavier Head Coach Chris Mack
"Number one, I'm just really disappointed at the way both teams conducted themselves down the stretch. Mick [Cronin] and I have been friends since the fifth grade. The crime of it is that for the first 39 and a half minutes, that was one of the cleaner Crosstown Shootouts."
On Kenny Frease "He's got a black and blue eye and some blood. I give him a lot of credit [on his play]. He was trying to catch the ball close to the basket. Kenny was big today."
"The way we played, it was probably our best game of the year."
