Miami Head Coach Charlie Coles
"I know we didn't play as well as we'd like. We fought as hard as could, though. I wish we could've been a little bit better with the ball. I wish we would've rebounded better. We like to work the ball inside but it ended up outside a lot. I would much rather be 12 for 24 inside the three, than 8 for 19 outside the three."
"Did we do anything special on (Tu) Holloway? Nah, he can break it down anytime he wants. If I were an All-America I'd take 22 shots."
On Kenny Frease "He's going to have a pretty good year. I know he's capable."
On Julian Mavunga "He's a great player. We had three and four people covering him every time he touched the ball. He can play anywhere in the country."
On Bill Edwards "The coaches talked about him all week. We knew he was a good player."
On XU's free throw shooting woes early in the season (35-for-67, 52.2 percent) "You're going to miss free throws. They're just not falling. But it'll get better."
On Travis Taylor "He played like a warrior. He's coming into his groove right now."
Xavier Head Coach Chris Mack
"I have a lot of respect - it goes without saying - for the Miami program. Coach (Charlie Coles) does a really good job, but he has good players, too."
"Our turnovers we kept down to minimum. That was a big part of the game. I thought our guards did a much better job the last six or eight minutes in making decisions. But I go back to our defensive intensity and I know these guys (RedHawks) practice pretty much every day in the half-court (defense). It's hard to score against Miami in the half-court. But fortunately we didn't have to in the second half."
