CINCINNATI - Sophomore swingman Jordan Crawford poured in a career-high 24 points, chased down seven rebounds and dished-out five assists to lead the Xavier University men's basketball team past Bowling Green, 101-57, on Tuesday evening at Cintas Center. With the win, Xavier improves to 2-0 on the year while the Falcons slip to 1-1.

The 101 points marked the most scored by XU since its 108-70 win over Virginia on January 3, 2008.

Crawford's 24 came on 9-of-14 shooting, including a red-hot 4-of-6 from beyond the 3-point arc. His previous career high was 21 points, which he registered against Northwestern on February 23, 2008 while playing at Indiana.

Four other Musketeers joined Crawford in double-figures as Brad Redford, Jason Love and Terrell Holloway each scored 12 points. Freshman guard Mark Lyons chipped in with 10 points for XU.

Redford's 12 came on 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point range while Love posted a double-double with 12 boards to go along with his 12 points. Holloway enjoyed a nearly flawless night, going 3-for-4 from the field, while snaring five rebounds and dropping three dimes.

Lyons' 10 came on 4-of-7 shooting and he also recorded three assists.

Xavier led 51-28 at the break after ending the first half on a 22-3 run, thanks in large part to scintillating 3-point shooting. XU scorched the nets at a 64.3 percent clip from deep in the first session, connecting on 9-of-14 from long range. Xavier would keep the pedal to the metal in the early stages of the second half, extending the 22-3 run to 30-4 by out-scoring the Falcons 8-to-1 in the first 1:30 of the second period.

Xavier was able to keep BG at bay and built the lead to as many as 47 points late in the second half.

The Musketeers dominated in all facets of this contest, out-rebounding the Falcons 43-to-26 and holding a 13-to-2 edge in second chance points. Xavier also kept up an early-season trend winning the fast break points battle 23-to-6.

The early stages of the first half saw three lead changes and a tie in the first two minutes but Xavier took the lead for good when Crawford buried a 3-pointer at the 17:40 mark to give XU a 9-6 edge.

The Falcons would hang around though and trailed by only four points, 29-25, after Jordon Crawford registered a steal and converted on the ensuing fast break lay-up at the 7:50 mark.

XU would respond though and effectively put the game away with a decisive 22-3 run over the remainder of the first stanza and seized a 51-28 lead after Crawford nailed a 3-pointer to send XU into the locker room with a big lead.

Xavier is back in action on Saturday, November 21 when the team welcomes Sacred Heart University to Cintas Center. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
